I\u2019m talking about <strong>the cafeteria.<\/strong> Specifically, <strong>where you sit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t just sit anywhere. That\u2019s madness. That\u2019s <em>social skydiving without a parachute.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what I\u2019ve figured out:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If your tray is too full, people judge your metabolism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your tray is empty, they assume you cried in the bathroom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you sit at an empty table, you\u2019re either early, exiled, or the main character in a sad indie film.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My table?<\/strong><br>It\u2019s me, Raj, and usually one person who doesn\u2019t understand social cues but brings really good chips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across the way? That\u2019s the Royal Court. Natasha sometimes sits there, which is fine. Totally fine. Not that I noticed. (I did.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I once tried to move tables. It lasted four minutes and ended with me spilling orange juice on a Chromebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Moral of the story:<\/strong><br>If you find a table that lets you be weird <em>without asking for a personality refund<\/em>, stay there.<br>Even if someone still calls you \u201cPoem Guy\u201d under their breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Max<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are rules.
